Wendell Travis 'Chatty' Morris, 53, of Ewing, passed away Thursday, August 3, 2017 at the University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington with his family by his side. Born in Nicholas County on May 5, 1964, he is a son of the late Leonard and Almeda Watkins Morris. Chatty was a retired self-employed farmer and fencer.
He is survived by: his wife of 32 years, April Mitchell Morris of Ewing; four children, Chassity (James) Groves of Ewing, Samantha Morris of Flemingsburg, T.J. (Cortney) Morris of Ewing, and Matthew (Brittany) Morris of Ewing. He is 'Papaw' to six grandchildren, who were his pride and joy, James 'Bub' Groves, Jr., Wendell Travis 'Trey' Morris III, Eli James Morris, Madilyn May 'Mayflower' Morris, Aliza Rose 'Fidget' Johnson, and Allyson Vaye Greene. He is also survived by; two sisters, Lisa and Carolyn; and four brothers, Jimmy, Ricky, Moss, and Johnny; and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Stanley, and an infant sister.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, August 6, 2017 at Carpenter-Fritz & Vice Funeral Home officiated by Bro. Randall Jackson. Burial will follow in the Morris Family Cemetery. Visitation will be 12-2pm Sunday at the funeral home. Active pallbearers will be Matt Durham, Nolan Pollock, Harold Riley, Raymond Bryant, Kurtis Godsey, Bradley Burke, Will Goerner, and Ray Bryant. Honorary pallbearer will be Austin Howard.
