Wanda June Cooper, 89, of Muses Mill, widow of Buford Cooper, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at Hospice of Hope at Kenton Pointe in Maysville. She was born on July 24, 1926 in Lewis County, the daughter of the late Mell and Sadie Dixon Polley. Sister June was a retired head teller for the First National Bank in Vanceburg. She attended Muses Mill Christian Church and enjoyed sewing and quilting. She is survived by: a daughter, Lisa (Steve) Newsom of Muses Mill; grandchildren, Amber (David) DeAtley, Allison Newsom, and Tyler Newsom, all of Muses Mill; and great-grandchildren, Dylan and Abigail DeAtley. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by: a daughter, Shelley Dawn Cooper; a son, Melbourne Kim Cooper; and a sister, Olive Lewis. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at the Carpenter-Fritz & Vice Funeral Home officiated by Bro. Doug Reeves and Bro. Ronnie Conley. Burial will be in the Mt. Tabor Cemetery in Ribolt. Visitation will be 6-8 pm Tuesday, January 26th at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Steve Newsom, Tyler Newsom, David DeAtley, Todd Wilson, Tom Wilson, and Bill Wallingford. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Hope, 909 Kenton Station Dr., Maysville, KY 41056.
