Verna Wagner

Verna Porter Wagner passed away on Monday, June 8, 2020. Verna was the daughter of Ollie Porter and Katherine McGinnis Porter. She was born on 3 Mile Road, where her grandfather, John Porter, owned the land. She was preceded in death by both of her parents and husband, Clifton Bradley Wagner, Jr. She is survived by her son Jerry (Corkey) Wagner and daughter Jeanie Rae (Daniel) Suit. Grandchildren include Brooke (Wes) Applegate and their children Brad, Alayna and Brady, Jared (Amy) Wagner and their children, Jax and Ali, Laura (Tony) Hamby and their children, Addyson and Harper, Danielle Suit (Caleb Cannon) and Peyton (Cameron) Rogers. Verna also leaves a sister, Roberta Waller Johnson of Lexington, Kentucky, and a brother, Gene (Ruby) Porter.Verna was a career employee of 30 years at the US Shoe Corporation in Flemingsburg and an active member of the Flemingsburg Christian Church. During the last few years, Verna was a resident of the Pioneer Trace Nursing home, where she made many friends and thoroughly enjoyed the company of her visitors. Verna wanted to be remembered by how much she deeply loved God, family and friends.Visitation is open to the public and will be Friday, June 12, 2020 from 10:00 AM- 12:00 PM at Carpenter- Fritz and Vice Funeral Home. The funeral service will be private. Interment will be in Elizaville Cemetery. Pallbearers include Jared Wagner, Wes Applegate, Tony Hamby, Brad Applegate, Brady Applegate and David Johnson.
