Samuel Higgins

Samuel Thomas Higgins, retired Chief Boatswain Mate of the U.S. Navy, born August 29, 1936 in Mayslick, KY, beloved husband of Jennie Holts Higgins, passed from this life on Tuesday, December 1, 2015. Samuel was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Tatum and Mary Frances Higgins; daughter, Vicki; and brothers, Obie and Wilburn Kelly. Survivors other than his wife are: brothers, Raymond, Gene, and Arthur Higgins of Cleveland, OH; sisters, Dorothy (Leroy) Decembly of Cleveland, OH, Mary Bennett and Lillian Higgins of New Haven, CT; two daughters from a previous marriage, Connie and Terri of San Diego, CA; grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends. Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Saturday, December 5, 2015 at the Carpenter-Fritz & Vice Funeral Home officiated by the Rev. James Turley. Visitation will be 11am-1pm Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be made in Fleming County Cemetery with Military Funeral Rites performed by the W.N. Fant American Legion Post #5 and the Franklin Sousley VFW Post #1834.
