Robinson 'Robbie' A. Campbell, 70, died Monday, December 1, 2014. Born April 8, 1944 in Mason County, he was the son of Maxine Corbin Campbell of Tilton and the late Wilburn Campbell. Robbie was in the Marine Corps having served in Vietnam. Throughout his life, he continued to have a deep loyalty to the armed forces .
Upon returning from Vietnam, he attended Morehead State College and worked as a salesperson for McClure's Furniture store in Flemingsburg. He later opened his own furniture store, Campbell Home Furnishings, in Flemingsburg. Robbie expanded this store into two other stores, one located in Maysville and the other in Lexington.
After closing the furniture businesses, he focused primarily on farming and also worked in the sales department for Fleming Homes. As sales was such a part of his personality, he decided, once again, to open a retail business, Noon 'til Nine Carpet in Maysville, which he currently was still operating upon his death.
Besides his mother, Robbie is survived by: a daughter, Robin Campbell of Lexington, KY; and a son, Rob Allen Campbell of Louisville, KY; a brother, Tommy (Brenda) Campbell of Tilton; three nephews, Randy Wilroy, Jeffrey Wilroy, and Darrin Thomas Campbell. He has also left behind his beloved dog and companion, Copper Besides his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Wilroy.
Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Saturday, December 6, 2014 at the Carpenter-Fritz & Vice Funeral Home officiated by the Rev. Norman Wasson. Visitation will be 6-9 pm Friday, December 5th at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Fleming County Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites performed by the W.N. Fant Amercian Legion Post #5 and the Franklin Sousley VFW Post #1834. Pallbearers will be Willie Conn, Cole Conn, Billy Joe Kirby, Kirk Dudley, Mike Strohofer, Chris Gehring, Calvin Robinson, Robert Cummins II, Lonnie Brewer, and Tommy Fern Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Sam Gehring, Tommy Fern Sr., and Bob Jones.
