Patsy Ruth McIntyre Dowd, 68, of Flemingsburg, widow of James Dowd, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, May 5, 2015. Born September 7, 1946 in Maysville, she was the daughter of the late Estill 'Cap' and Cordelia 'Doug' Miller McIntyre.
A graduate of the 'old' Fleming County High School, Patsy was a homemaker and caregiver. She attended Hilltop Christian Church and Battle Run Christian Church in her early years in life, and later attended the Freewill Baptist Church in Flemingsburg. Patsy enjoyed doing crafts and taking care of people. She was a natural caregiver to people in general.
Patsy had a very giving heart and helped people in many ways, and one of the many things she would do, was to be at McDonald's when a school bus would come through from another county or school, stopping to eat after a ballgame or function, and Patsy would notice a child or person that wasn't eating because they didn't have any or enough money to eat, and she would buy them something to eat. Patsy spent most of her time taking care of others, including her late mother and her late son. Her love, thoughtfulness, compassion, but also her quick wit and humor will be missed and never forgotten.
She is survived by: two daughters, Jimmye (Samuel) Adkins of Flemingsburg; and Patricia (Scott) Rouse of Elizabethtown, KY; three grandchildren, Dray Logsdon of Flemingsburg, Taryn Logsdon (Jay Jolly) of Carlisle, and Justin Rouse of Elizabethtown; a great-granddaughter, Emily Roberts of Carlisle; and a host of special friends. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Samuel 'Bubby' Dowd.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Friday, May 8, 2015 at the Carpenter-Fritz & Vice Funeral Home officiated by Bro. Herbie Stallard. Visitation will be 6-9 pm Thursday, May 7th at the funeral home. Burial will be in Elizaville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Sam Landreth, Sam Adkins, Dray Logsdon, Justin Rouse, Jay Jolly, and Scott Rouse.
