Nicholas Peck

July 20, 1983 — August 27, 2014

Nicholas Brooks Peck, age 31, passed into Heaven on August 27, 2014 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. He was a life long resident of Hilltop, Kentucky until relocating to Audubon, Iowa in 2006. Nick came into life on July 20, 1983 at Fleming County Hospital.

A curly, black haired baby boy roared into life with one speed: 'high gear'! He was fun loving, tender hearted, always willing to help others regardless of risk. He possessed the ability to converse with anyone and never met a stranger. Nicholas was an expert tree trimmer, electrical lineman, and a long distance 'bull hauler'. His nickname on the road was 'Spanky' or 'Two Speed'.

Nicholas held his family close to his heart and was proud to be the father of, Ava, age 8, of Hilltop, and Lance, age 7, Carter, age 6, and James, age 2, all of Guthrie, Iowa. Nicholas is also survived by: his father, Larry Peck of Flemingsburg; mother and step-father, Sandra and Vernon Pelfrey of Harrodsburg; brothers, Josh and Corey Peck of Harrodsburg; and sister, Sarah Peck of Ewing; maternal grandmother, Sarah Mamie Peck of Flemingsburg; uncles, Daniel (Braides) Peck of Flemingsburg, Jamie (Sheila) Peck of Nicholas County, Cecil Brooks (Melanie) McIntyre of Ewing, and Steve Donovan of Ceder Lake; aunts, Diana Ross of Lexington, and Patsy (Donnie) Story of Flemingsburg; cousins, David and Brian Story, James D. Peck, Carrie Ross, Heather McGinnis, Brent Donovan, and Haley Brook McIntyre. He was preceded in death by: maternal grandparents, Cecil and Virginia McIntyre; paternal grandfather, James David Peck; aunt Linda Donovan; uncle, Terrell Ross; cousin, Amanda Ceaberry Ross; and a special friend, Donald Ashley Muse who passed away in 2000.

A memorial service for Iowa friends and family was conducted at Bethany Church Camp in Exira, Iowa on August 29th, 2014. A local memorial service will be conducted 4:00 pm Friday, September 5, 2014 at the Elizaville Christian Church officiated by Pastor Larry T. Ingram. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the hour of service at 4:00 pm on Friday at the church. Final resting place will be in the Elizaville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Josh Peck, Corey Peck, Sarah Peck, and Kelly Muse. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested the Nicholas Peck Children's Scholarship Fund, c/o Peoples Bank, P.O. Box 367, Flemingsburg, KY 41041. Carpenter-Fritz & Vice Funeral Home is in care of arrangements.
