Nancy Bussell, 82, of Ewing, widow of Avery Bussell, Sr., passed away Sunday, June 21, 2015 at Fleming County Hospital. She was born on April 27, 1933 in Bath County, a daughter of the late Rollie and Mattie Nealis Reed. Nancy was a member of the Oakley Church of God in Bath County.
A homemaker and farm wife, Nancy worked with her husband on their family farm in many different aspects, from tending to her strawberry patch to working in tobacco to fixing all the meals for her family and farmhands. An avid sewer as well, Nancy made everything from quilts, purses and dolls which she sold at many hometown festivals including Court Days. She was very active in a many of the area flea markets having set up booths over the years, and had one for many years in Georgetown, KY.
She is survived by: three sons, Roy Marshall (Betty Ann) Bussell of Ewing, Lacy Scott Bussell of Ewing, and Avery (Denise 'Dee Dee') Bussell, Jr. of Georgetown; grandchildren, Michelle Jolly (William Diaz) of Flemingsburg, and John Avery Bussell of Georgetown; a great-granddaughter, Nicole Jolly; step-grandchildren, Caleb Wright and Devin Jarrett, both of Georgetown, and Andrew Aldridge of Clay City; and a special step-brother, Floyd Sorrell of Bath County. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by: two brothers, Emory and Joe Taylor Reed; and a sister, Dorothy Reed Denton.
Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Friday, June 26, 2015 at the Carpenter-Fritz & Vice Funeral Home officiated by Bro. Billy Harmon and Bro. Randy Hawkins. Visitation will be 5-9 pm Thursday, June 25th at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Elizaville Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Jimmy Hamilton, Lawrence Jones, Kenny Ramey, Terry Vice, Chris Martin, Timmy Mitchell, John Avery Bussell, and William Diaz.
