Maurice Elbert Wagner, 90 of the Beechy Creek Community in Fleming County, Kentucky passed away peacefully, Thursday, January 13, 2022, at the Pioneer Trace Nursing Home in Flemingsburg, Kentucky. He was born in Lewis County, Kentucky on November 14, 1931, to the late Virgil and Gladys Dugan Wagner.
Maurice had attended the Pleasant Valley Church of Christ where he served as a Deacon and Elder. He and his wife Wanda served as Youth Leaders for many years. He was a United States Army veteran having served during the Korean conflict. He was a retired builder and contractor having worked on many projects in the area as well as in Florida. He enjoyed bluegrass music, reading, hunting, fishing, woodworking, building furniture, working in his greenhouse and enjoying the outdoors. He was a man of great faith and read his Bible daily.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Wanda Jean Poynter Wagner who passed away December 23, 2021, a son Rickie Dale Wagner and a great-granddaughter Evie Claire Rigdon.
Survivors include one son, Layne (Stephanie) Wagner of Wallingford, Three daughters, Lisa (Billy) Rigdon of Wallingford, Cheryl (Marty) Roberts of Flemingsburg and Kristi (John) Carter of Plant City, Florida. Eleven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister Lois Taylor and one nephew.
Private family funeral services will be conducted at the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Flemingsburg with Brother John Byard officiating. Burial will follow in the Martin Cemetery.
There is no visitation.
Grandsons will serve as pall bearers.
