Mamie W. Peck, 96, of Flemingsburg, widow of James David Peck, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at home with her family by her side. She was born September 16, 1920 in Fleming County, a daughter of the late Leonard Thomas and Ura Porter Williams.
A member of Hilltop Christian Church, Mamie was baptized at Concord Christian Church. Mamie was a former cook having worked at the Cozy Nook, the Whip 'n Sip, the Hungry Haven and the old Dairy Queen. She also worked at Russell's Five-n-Dime Store for many years, was a former caregiver, and secretary at the VFW where she also served as Treasurer of the Ladies Auxiliary for 3 years and President for 11 years. Mamie was also an avid Cincinnati Reds fan and UK fan. On her 90th birthday, she celebrated by going to watch the Reds play at Cinergy Field.
She is survived by: a daughter, Patsy (Donnie) Story of Flemingsburg; three sons, Larry David Peck of Flemingsburg, James Price (Sheila) Peck of Ewing, and Daniel Lee (Braides) Peck of Fleming County; ten grandchildren; David Story, Brian 'Rooster' Story, Kendra Ackerman, Kayla Kegley, Josh Peck, Cory Peck, Sarah Peck, J.D. Peck, Jerrod Kabler, and Jacob Kabler; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Ruth Meta of Florida. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by: a brother, Leonard Thomas Williams, Jr.; two sisters, Josie Harmon, and Ruby Saunders; and a grandson, Nicholas Peck.
Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Friday, June 23, 2017 at Carpenter-Fritz & Vice Funeral Home. Visitation will be 10am-1pm Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Elizaville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be David Story, Brian 'Rooster' Story, Tyler Story, J.D. Peck, Josh Peck, and Terry Harmon. Honorary pallbearers will be her great-grandchildren.
