Lynda Lee McKee, 83, of Flemingsburg, died Saturday, January 10, 2015 at the Fleming County Hospital. She was born May 8, 1931 in Fleming County to the late Forest Lee and Lucille Wallingford McKee.
Ms. McKee was a retired teacher from the Fleming County School System. She was in the English department including speech and drama. She directed many student plays during her tenure at the school. In 1972 when Fleming County Publicly celebrated its 175th anniversary as a county in Kentucky, she wrote and directed a historical depiction of the many events of the county from 1797 to 1972. It was performed on the stage of the Fleming County High School involving many Fleming County citizens. She had to reluctantly retire from her school position in 1983 when she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. She is survived by two cousins, Robert W. Crain and Georgia Crain Shanklin. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at the Flemingsburg First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Susan Elkow officiating. Burial will follow in the Fleming County Cemetery. Visitation will be from at the Flemingsburg First United Methodist Church from 10:00 am until the hour of service Wednesday. Memorials are suggested to the Flemingsburg First United Methodist Church, 117 W. Main St., Flemingsburg, KY 41041. Funeral arrangements are in the care of Carpenter-Fritz & Vice Funeral Home.
