Lyla Humphries

Lyla Lee Humphries, 86, widow of Ray Humphries, Jr., passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 24, 2016 at her residence. She was born on March 15, 1930 in Lexington, Kentucky, a daughter of the late William Lyle Pardo and the late Pansy Ishmael Pardo.

On August 28, 1948, she married Ray Humphries, Jr. and moved to Fleming County. Lyla Lee was an active member of the Flemingsburg Christian Church where she was also active in The Christian Women's Fellowship, as well as a Sunday School Teacher. She retired as librarian of the Fleming County Public Library in 1993 after 27 years, and she was The Beta Sigma Phi Lady of the Year in 1976.

Lyla Lee is survived by three children: Steven Wesley Humphries and his wife Sharon of Mt. Carmel, Diane Raye Bramel and her husband Paul of Lexington, and Joan Carol McGlone and her husband Anthony of Mt. Carmel. She is also survived by eight grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; her sister, Betty Pardo Dorsey of Flemingsburg; and sister-in-law, Betty Hunt of Ewing. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by: a son, Don Humphries; and a granddaughter, Dana Humphries.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, July 28, 2016 at the Flemingsburg Christian Church officiated by the Rev. Jeff Bramel. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 pm Wednesday, July 27th at the Carpenter-Fritz & Vice Funeral Home. Visitation will also be held Thursday morning from 7:00 am to 11:00 am at the Flemingsburg Christian Church. Burial will be in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be family members.
