Larry McKee

Larry Charles McKee, 71, of Flemingsburg, passed away quietly into the arms of his Lord on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at Meadowview Regional Hospital in Maysville. Born on January 2, 1947 in Maysville, a son of the late Letcher H. and Lois G. Lancaster McKee, Larry had a challenging life from birth, yet he handled all things with love. During his lifetime, he worked at Flemingsburg Service Station, Scotty Mitchell's Grocery, Ben Franklin, Princess Theatre, and Lakewood Foodtown. He was best known for his inspiration to customers where he worked for 24 years at Ken's New Market, from where he retired. Larry was a member of Flemingsburg Christian Church and faithfully watched WJLC Christian TV. Throughout his life, he loved giving to small children and helping people. He never met a stranger nor did he shy away from conversation. He seldom missed calling his good friends, Aleta Smith and Louise Dailey; they were a vital part of his life. Larry is survived by: his twin brother, Barry H. McKee of Fairhope, AL; three sisters, Margaret (Sherman) Saunders of Maysville, Anita Joyce Graf of Flemingsburg, and Sandra M. (William) Cooper of Flemingsburg; nephews, Aaron McKee of Spanish Fort, AL, Michael Graf of Flemingsburg, Shawn Saunders of Maysville, and Shane Saunders of Maysville; and nieces, Tonia O'Daniel of Fairhope, AL, Cherie Kay McCane of Winchester, and Tamara Hart of Mt. Sterling. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Glenda Carolyn McKee. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at the Carpenter-Fritz & Vice Funeral Home officiated by Pastor Martin L. Voiers. Visitation will be 5-8 pm Monday, February 12th at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fleming County Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Allen Ray Argo, Michael Graf, Dave Lightner, David McCane, Shawn Saunders, and Shane Saunders. Honorary pallbearers will be Boone Hart, Tamara Hart, Zeb Hart, Cherie McCane, Courtney McCane, Lindsey Saunders, and Georgianna Sparks.
