Katie Donovan Prager, 26, of Flemingsburg, passed away peacefully at home in her bed with her family by her side, after a courageous, lifelong battle with Cystic Fibrosis, on Thursday, September 22, 2016.
Katie was born on August 26, 1990 in Mt. Sterling, KY, the daughter of Debra Koehler Donovan and John Donovan, both of Ewing. A 2009 graduate of Fleming County High School, Katie received her Associates Degree from Maysville Community College. Katie was a former cashier at Total Care Pharmacy, and she also worked at Maze Collision Center Repair while living in St. Louis, MO.
At the age of two weeks, Katie was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis, thus starting her lifelong contention with a disease that she refused to let define who she was as a person. As Katie's family and friends always knew, she never held back in anything she wanted to do in life. When she started school, she told her mom that she didn't want anyone to know about her disease, not even the teachers, because she still didn't want to be treated any different. Katie also participated in sports. She always said her ultimate goal in cross country was to never finish last, which for most people, would've been to just finish the race. Katie's smile lit up the room whenever she walked in. Her 'go get 'em' and 'grab the bull by the horns' attitude was who she was, and always will be in the hearts of all who loved her. Besides her parents, she is survived by: her brother, Jake Donovan of Morehead; maternal grandfather, August 'June' Koehler, Jr. of Elizaville; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Just five days before she passed away, Katie's husband, Dalton Prager, the love of her life, and companion who fought the same battle she did, with the same disease, succumbed to his illness in Missouri. They are together in Heaven at last without the chains, and boundaries of a debilitating illness, that no longer has hold on either of them, nor does it separate them from each other. Katie was also preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, James and Nancy Donovan; maternal grandmother, Bonnie Arnold Koehler; an uncle, Gene Donovan; and two aunts, Linda Donovan, and Karen Donovan.
