Kathy Bean

Kathy Sue Bean, age 65 of Flemingsburg, beloved wife of John Roy Bean, lost her valiant struggle with cancer on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at home with her husband by her side. She was born in Lexington on November 13, 1952, a daughter of the late Willard Fishback and Johnene Fawkes Perkins. Growing up a Shriner's kid, Kathy was a former Registered Respiratory Therapist having worked at the University of Kentucky Medical Center, the VA Hospital Lexington Cooper Drive, and Fleming County Hospital. She was a former Director of Respiratory Therapy at Clark Regional Hospital in Winchester. After working in the medical field, Kathy became an Instructional Aide and substitute teacher with the Fleming County School System, working with children with special needs. Kathy enjoyed working in the school system because she loved the kids very much that she cared for. She was also a dog and cat lover, having taken in many stray dogs and cats over the years. Kathy was a member of the Flemingsburg Church of God and loved her church family very much. Besides her husband, John, she is survived by: her sister, Cheryl Roberts of Lexington; two nieces, Dr. Heather (Kyle) Shick of Rockton, IL and Ashley Awender of Freeport, IL; and great-nieces and nephews, Benjamin, Charlie Kate, Stella James, Lia, Lucas, Roxanne, and Kam. A Celebration of Life service will be held 11:00 am Saturday, August 18, 2018 at the Flemingsburg First Church of God officiated by Bro. Clint Strickland. Visitation will be 5-8 pm Friday, August 17th at Carpenter-Fritz & Vice Funeral Home. Burial of cremains will be private.
