June Owens

June Woodward Owens, age 86 of Ewing, beloved wife of 65 years to Ralph Owens, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2019 at Hospice of Hope at Kenton Pointe in Maysville. June was born December 10, 1932 in Bracken County, a daughter of the late Charles Thomas and Anna Moore Woodward.  June grew up in the Brooksville Baptist Church and was a member of the Ewing Baptist Church throughout her adult life. She married Ralph Owens in May of 1954 and devoted her life to her family. She was known for her quiet strength, courage and steadfast friendship and acceptance of all. June was a dedicated Christian who never said an unkind word. She will be remembered for her very strong but humble demeanor in everything she encountered in life. June left this earthly world through her last breath with the same grace that she demonstrated every day throughout her life.  She was the wonderful mother to her two daughters, Debra Owens of Lexington and Karen Owens (Mark S.) Adams of Lexington; loving and proud grandmother to Anna Owens of Lexington, Alyson Adams of Elizabethtown, and Drew Adams of Harlan, KY. Also surviving are her three great-grandchildren; and sister, Naomi Poe of Lexington; and numerous extended family members. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Calvin Woodward. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, May 30, 2019 at the Ewing Baptist Church. Visitation will be 5-8 pm Wednesday, May 29th at the Ewing Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Shannon Cemetery in Mason County.
