J.R. Lewis

J.R. Lewis of Flemingsburg, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, November 12, 2023 at the Meadowview Regional Medical Center in Maysville, Kentucky at the age of 91.

He was born September 18, 1932 in Fleming County, Kentucky, to the late Henry Franklin Lewis Sr. and Nell McPeek Lewis.

J.R. was a farmer and he enjoyed going fishing, bluegrass music (playing several instruments himself), and he loved the outdoors and nature.  J.R. walked many many miles through the streets of Flemingsburg over the years.  He was a Christian and attended several churches in the area.

J.R. was one of twelve children, George, Russell, Norman, James "Jimmy", Robert "Bobby", Raymond, Louise, Sadie, Mable, Martha, and Goldie. 

He is survived by a nephew, Tommy Lewis, close friend, Allen Argo of Ewing, Kentucky,  several neighbors and friends and his little dog, Libby.

Services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, November 16, 2023 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Flemingsburg with Pastor Robbie Shrout officiating.

J.R. will be laid to rest in the Hillsboro Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 12 Noon till the hour of service Thursday at the funeral home.

Family and friends will serve as casket bearers.
