Jean Hamm

July 26, 1940 — May 24, 2017

Jean Hamm, 76, beloved wife of Tom Hamm, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on Wednesday morning, May 24, 2017. Born in Carter County on July 26, 1940, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence and Ellen Burton Reeder.

Retired from Pioneer Trace Nursing Home as Housekeeping Supervisor, Jean was not only a mother to her own sons, but to all who needed her or came into her life. She and her husband were foster parents to many children over the years. Jean was also an amazing cook, especially her biscuits and gravy. Jean was a Christian woman serving Christ not only with her hands, but also her heart, everything she did was with love, kindness, and tenderness. She loved life so much and lived each day to its fullest. Jean also loved to be home and through Hospice of Hope, she received her final wish to be able to take her last breath at home.

The family would like to take this opportunity to give a heartfelt thank you to Hospice of Hope for their wonderful care of Jean during her final days. Without them, the comfort and peace she felt in her heart would not have transpired.

Besides her faithful husband, she is survived by: two sons, Tommy D. (Debbie) Hamm of Fleming County, and Ronnie Michael (Kay) Hamm of Richmond; six grandsons, Johnathon Hamm, Jason Hamm, Jearmiah Hamm, Joel Hamm, Jacob Hamm, and Josh Hamm; 13 great-grandchildren; five brothers, Ronnie Reeder of Fleming County, Bill Reeder of Mason County, Jimmy Bradley of Fleming County, Danny Bradley of Fleming County, and Lawrence Clay Reeder of Indiana; and two sisters, Terri Mae Ooten of Fleming County, and Roberta Jean Reeder of Indiana. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by: a brother, Kevin Spencer; and three sisters, Patricia, Darlene, and Geneva Faye Reeder.
