James Boyd

James Walter 'Hoss' Boyd, 71, of Flemingsburg, passed away suddenly on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Fleming County Hospital. Born on March 22, 1944 in Flemingsburg, he was the son of the late James Jackson and Margaret Monroe Boyd. A retired sanitation worker for the city of Flemingsburg, he was a U.S. Army veteran, a volunteer fireman for the Flemingsburg Fire Department as well as a member of the local American Legion. Hoss was an avid UK basketball fan and he loved to play golf. He also loved spending time with family and friends and could be found sitting on the bench outside of Save-A-Lot greeting people as they came and went. He is survived by: a son, Jimmy Lee (Jevett) of Columbus, OH; five grandchildren, Sade', Teshayna, Tashana, Justice, and Jimmy Jr.; a sister, Hattie Mae Connors of Flemingsburg; several nieces and nephews; special friend, Lena Hamm; and close family friend, Mimi Dell Perry. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Emma Jane Boyd, Polly Boyd, and Mary Katherine Boyd. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Thursday, January 28, 2016 at the Carpenter-Fritz & Vice Funeral Home officiated by Pastor Randy Taylor. Visitation will be 5-9 pm Wednesday, January 27th at the funeral. Home. Burial will be in Fleming County Cemetery with Military Rites performed by the W.N Fant American Legion Post #5 and the Franklin Sousley VFW Post #1834. Active pallbearers will be members of the Flemingsburg Fire Department. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Young, Sam Prather, Jeff Young, Walter Jackson, Alan Thomas Jones, Wayne Dudley, Leroy Talbert, Robbie Graham, Robert Connors, and Anthony Connors.

5-9 pm Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at Carpenter-Fritz & Vice F.H.

Funeral:
11:00 am Thursday, January 28, 2016 at Carpenter-Fritz & Vie F.H.

Interment:
Fleming County Cemetery
