Iona Wagner

Iona Catherine Wagner, 92 of Wallingford, widow of Elza Lee Wagner, passed away Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at her residence. She was born January 11, 1925 in Bath County, a daughter of the late Dottie Faris McClure Hurst and John Lovel Hurst.
Iona was a homemaker and a member of the Wallingford United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School for more than forty years. Iona was also an avid quilter. She is survived by: her Children, John Merle (Elizabeth) Wagner of Muses Mills, Michael (Jeri) Wagner of Plummers Landing, Pam (John) Adams of Florida, and Mark (Charlotte) Wagner of Wallingford; grandchildren, Angela (Ed) Paver, Melissa (James) DeAtley, Misty (Jay) Conn, Tiffany (Adam) Crawford, Macy (Josh) Fawns, and Ian Adams; and great-grandchildren, Bobby (Emily) Paver, Madison Paver (Colin Ruggles), Sarah Redmond, Anderson DeAtley, Jakeb Conn, Ashton Conn, and Luke Conn. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by: a daughter, Marcella K. Wagner; sister and brother-in-law, Eunice and Charlie Lucas; brother and sister-in-law, John Lovell and Bessie Hurst, Jr.; and sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and Eddie Robinson. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Monday, November 6, 2017 at Wallingford United Methodist Church officiated by Rev. Cindy Baker and Rev. Bob Ray. Visitation will be 5-8 pm Sunday, November 5th at Carpenter-Fritz & Vice Funeral Home. Burial will be in Longview Cemetery in Bethel. Active pallbearers will be Ian Adams, Ed Paver, James DeAtley, Jay Conn, Adam Crawford, and Josh Fawns. Honorary pallbearers will be her great-grandchildren. Memorials are suggested to the Wallingford United Methodist Church.
