Gladys Louise Phillips Watson, 88, of Lexington, formerly of Flemingsburg, widow of Major L. Watson to whom she married in April of 1960, passed away Thursday, March 23, 2017 at the Bluegrass Hospice Care Center at St. Joseph Hospital. Born October 16, 1928 in Mason County, she was a daughter of the late William H. and Rena Kellem Phillips.
Louise was a retired bookkeeper for Montgomery Ward in Maysville. She is survived by: a step-daughter, Carolyn Watson of Lexington; a sister-in-law, Helen Phillips of Mason County; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by: three sisters, Irene Thurman, Juanita Watson, and Thelma Minks; and two brothers, Clayton Phillips, and Donnie Phillips.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, March 25, 2017 at the Fleming County Cemetery with Bro. Harley Sexton, Jr. officiating. No visitation is planned. Carpenter-Fritz & Vice Funeral Home is in care of final arrangement details. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass, 2312 Alexandria Dr., Lexington, KY 40504.
