Ernie Clinton Johnson, 86 of Flemingsburg passed away Tuesday morning, October 20, 2020 at Edgewood Manor in Lucasville, Ohio where he had made his home for the past several months. He was born in Fleming County, Kentucky on February 28, 1934 to the late Bert and Dora Cooper Johnson.
Mr. Johnson was a former farmer and was retired from the Kentucky Department of Transportation where he had worked with the bridge crew. He enjoyed mowing and taking care of his yard, working, cutting tobacco, camping, attending church and spending time with his family. He and his wife enjoyed attending the Wallingford Community Church.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Mae Shields Johnson. Three brothers, Johnny Johnson, Vinton Johnson and Roscoe Johnson. Two sisters; Celia Butler and Myrtie Johnson.
Survivors include One son, Everett Johnson and wife Linda of Georgetown, Kentucky. Two daughters; Carolyn Hartley and her husband Mike of Wallingford, Kentucky and Karen Carpenter and her husband Bill of Mt. Carmel, Kentucky. One brother, Hurold Johnson and his wife Wynona of Fleming County, Kentucky. Two brothers-in-law; Everett Shields of Phoenix City, Alabama and Cray Shields of Flemingsburg, Kentucky. Seven grandchildren, Twelve Great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Also, several other nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Private family services will be conducted Friday in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Flemingsburg with Rev. Randy Hawkins officiating.
Burial will follow in the Fleming County Cemetery.
Serving as pall bearers will be Everett Ray Johnson, Chad Johnson, Leonard Burke, Jr., Brandon Burke, Mark Miller and Jacob Carpenter.
The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to Edgewood Manor for the care they provided.
