Eric Joshua Watson, 34, husband of Alexa Combs Watson, passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2014. Born in Morehead, KY, he was the son of George W. and Vicki Martin Watson of Fleming County.
A graduate of Fleming County High School, Eric was a farmer on the family farm specializing in raising Swine. With a zest for showing hogs in his blood, Eric won the 2013 Grand Champion Boar at the Summer Type Conference in Louisville, which is nationally recognized. A member of the National Swine Registry, Eric attended the Sharkey Church in Farmers, KY. Eric had many hobbies and interests. He loved 'gaming' or playing video games with his son, watching movies, playing guitar as well as playing drums, and he enjoyed weightlifting. Eric loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved the Green Bay Packers, win or lose, and like every other Kentuckian, he was an Avid UK Basketball fan. But as much as he loved doing all of the things for mentioned, most of all, Eric loved spending time with his family and friends. He will forever be greatly missed. Besides his wife and parents, he is survived by: his son, Zander Gabriel Watson; two sisters, Kristen (Blake) Manning, and Megan (Brad) Watson; paternal grandmother, Jean Watson; niece, Ava Watson; nephew, Brentley Manning; best friend, Darrell Doyle; mother-in-law, Karen Combs; sister-in-law, Christina Combs; and special family friends, the Royse family. He was preceded in death by: maternal grandparents, Edna and Bert Martin, Sr.; paternal grandfather, Wilbur Watson; and father-in-law, Johnnie Combs.
Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at the Flemingsburg Christian Church, 201 E. Water St. officiated by Bro. Todd Martin and Bro. Brett Martin. Visitation will be 4-8 pm Tuesday, September 2nd at the Flemingsburg Christian Church. Pallbearers will be Blake Manning, Brad Watson, Darrell Doyle, Travis McGlone, Mike Royse, Chris Royse, Shawn Royse, and Arnie Fields. Memorials are suggested to The Zander Watson Scholarship Fund, c/o Peoples Bank, P.O. Box 367, Flemingsburg, KY 41041. Carpenter-Fritz & Vice Funeral Home are in care of funeral arrangements.
