Calvin Hazelrigg

December 3, 1924 — March 23, 2014

Calvin B. Hazelrigg, 89, husband of 68 years to Virginia M. Hazelrigg, passed away Sunday, March 23, 2014 at Pioneer Trace Nursing Home. Born in Bath County on December 3, 1924, he was the son of the late Adrian Glenn and Nelia Elizabeth Stephens Hazelrigg.

A World War II U.S. Army Veteran, Calvin was a member of First United Methodist Church. He was a retired postal worker and upon his retirement from the U.S. Postal Service, he worked ten years at Peoples Bank. Calvin was a charter member of Flemingsburg VFW Post #1834, the Kiwanis Club and the Fleming County Golf Association. He was also a member of the Fleming Lodge #30 I.O.O.F. and the American Legion Post #5. Calvin loved to play golf, but most of all, he loved his family, especially his grandchildren, and will be remembered for his whistling.

Besides his wife, he is survived by: three sons, John Michael (Joni) Hazelrigg, Charles Wayne (Loretta) Hazelrigg, and Richard Allan (Peggy) Hazelrigg, all of Flemingsburg; grandchildren, Gregory Dean Hazelrigg, Ramona Lane Hazelrigg, Kassie (Michael) Celsor, Katie Hurst, Kelly Hurst, Samantha Hurst, Jenna (Nick) Ruschhoff, Jason Hazelrigg, Chad (April) Johnson, Cody (Kayla) Hazelrigg, Heath (Shannon) Hazelrigg, and Heather Hazelrigg; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Virginia Boone of Frankfort; and special friends,Raymond, Michelle, Stacy, and Paul Pollitt. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by: a sister, Bettie Jeune Hazelrigg; and a 'special brother', Cecil Glascock.

Funeral services will be 3:00 pm Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at Carpenter-Fritz & Vice Funeral Home (formerly known as Denton-Workman Funeral Home) officiated by Rev. Norman Wasson and Rev. Ben Cain. Visitation will be 5-9 pm Tuesday, March 25th at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fleming County Cemetery with Military Rites performed by the W.N. Fant American Legion Post #5 and Franklin Sousley VFW Post #1834.

Active pallbearers will be Greg Hazelrigg, Jason Hazelrigg, Heath Hazelrigg, Chad Johnson, Cody Hazelrigg, Duane Turner, Malcolm Cassidy, and Mike Colgan. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Glascock, Gerald Crain, Paul Pollitt, Tony Kinder, Raymond Pollitt, and Jarrod Fritz.
