Brownie Emmons, age 80 of Tilton, widower of Virginia Compton Emmons, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at the Hospice of Hope Care Center at Kenton Pointe in Maysville. He was born on August 1, 1937, the only child of the late Ennis B. and Rebecca Collins Emmons. A U.S. Army veteran, Brownie attended Morehead State University and retired as assistant regional manager from the USDA Tobacco Division after thirty-seven years. Brownie was a faithful member of Tilton United Methodist Church where he served as superintendent for many years. Brownie also loved being a farmer, raising tobacco and cattle, and he was also a school bus driver. He loved baseball and was very active in his younger years playing softball and coaching his grandson in Little League Baseball. Brownie was proud to be a Kentucky Colonel and loved his Kentucky Wildcats. Most of all, he will be remembered for being a great dad, wonderful husband, a loving grandfather, and a good friend to all. He is survived by: his daughter, Lisa (Barry) Bryant of Tilton; grandson, Justin Brown May (Lindsey Goetz) of Louisville; cousins, L.L. (Tammy) Emmons of Tilton, Elgin (Mary) Emmons of Erlanger and Dale (Allison) Emmons of Richmond; and other cousins. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Monday, May 7, 2018 at the Tilton United Methodist Church officiated by Bro. Gaylord Gillispie, Bro. Elgin Emmons, and Rev. Gail Skaggs. Visitation will be 5-9 pm Sunday at the church. Burial will be in Fleming County Cemetery with Military Funeral Honors performed by the W.N. Fant American Legion Post #5 & the Franklin Sousley VFW Post #1834. Serving as active pallbearers will be Steve Hickerson, Ike France, Jamie Compton, Will Emmons, Jamie Emmons and Lance Emmons. Honorary pallbearers will be Barnes Compton, Victor Perkins, Williams Perkins and Ted Allen Ramey. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Hope, 909 Kenton Station Dr., Maysville, KY 41056. Funeral arrangements are in care of the Carpenter-Fritz & Vice Funeral Home.
