Bernice Story

Bernice Story, 91, of Flemingsburg, widow of Robert L. Story, passed away Sunday February 18, 2018 at Fleming County Hospital. Born in Bath County on May 8, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Aaron Tobe and Lillie Manning Newell. Bernice was a member of Bluebank Christian Church for over 50 years. A lifelong farmer, Bernice served as an Election Officer for many years as well as an elected official with the USDA. She also worked for U.S. Shoe for two years and enjoyed making and selling her homemade candy. Bernice also loved to travel throughout the United States. She is survived by: her granddaughter, Lisa Story (Randy) McRoberts of Flemingsburg; her great-granddaughter, Leea McRoberts of Flemingsburg; her daughter-in-law, Carolyn Patrick Story of Flemingsburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by; her son, Lee Newell Story; and siblings, Eliza Hughes, Gertrude Bromagen, Mildred Webb, Alma Tipton, James Newell, and Berman Newell. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Carpenter-Fritz & Vice Funeral Home officiated by Rev. James Paul Humphries and Chaplain Keith Sergent. Visitation will be 5-8 pm Wednesday, February 21st at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fleming County Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Andy McDonald, Stephen Story, Chris Glascock, Matt Sorrell, Brad Watson, and Andrew Story. Honorary pallbearers will be Ed Story, Norman Story, Billy Story, Randy Sorrell, Don Sorrell, Phil Sorrell, William Cooper, Wayne Hazelrigg, Donnie Moran, and David Hinton.
