Barbara Dye, age 83 of Fleming County, widow of George Dye, passed away on Friday, February 22, 2019 at the Maysville Nursing & Rehab Facility. She was born on August 29, 1935 in Hillsboro, a daughter of the late Eugene and Glenna Belle Porter Hawkins. Barbara was a member of the Hillsboro United Methodist Church and attended the Nepton United Methodist Church. Barbara was a homemaker and was known for being a wonderful cook. An avid UK Basketball fan, she loved spending time with her family, having family get-togethers, especially with her grandchildren. Barbara was a loyal patron of the Fleming County Public Library and enjoyed reading. She is survived by: a son, David Dye of Fleming County; a daughter, Cheryl (Jim) Harmon of Lancaster, OH; grandchildren, Ashley (Justin) Welch of Georgetown, KY, and McKay (Josh) Harden of Lancaster, OH; great-grandchildren, Jamison and Nora Welch, and Cooper Harden; brothers, Ricky Hawkins, Mike Hawkins, and Curtis Hawkins; numerous nieces and nephews; special niece, Vicki Smith; and special nephew, Johnny Jett. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by: her grandson, Jeremy Dye; sisters, Leota Jett and Juanita Ray Riggs; and brothers, James Benjamin Hawkins and Danny Thomas Hawkins. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Wednesday, February 27, 2019 in the Chapel of Carpenter-Fritz & Vice Funeral Home officiated by Johnny Jett. Visitation will be 5-8 pm Tuesday, February 26th at the funeral home. Burial will be in Elizaville Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Ricky Hawkins, Mike Hawkins, Curtis Hawkins, Jim Harmon, Justin Welch, and Josh Harden.
