Anna Florence Jones Dyer

Mrs. Anna Florence Jones Dyer, 81, of 123 Smoot Lane, Flemingsburg, Kentucky, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, November 9, 2023 at her son's home in Mauk, Georgia.

Anna was born on June 2, 1942 in Armstrong, Pennsylvania, to the late Ada Mae Blanton Jones and William Clyde Jones.

She was married to Kelly Edward Dyer on March 31, 1960 by Brother Vestal Hamm in Rowan County, Kentucky.

She is survived by one son, William Scott Dyer of Mauk, Georgia, whom she loved very much, and one brother, Clarence Ernest Jones of Indiana.  She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. A special niece Kim Jones, and Mark Lowe of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, who were always there for her, and one sister-in-law, Brenda Jones of Ewing. Special adopted family John Vaughn III, John and Carol Vaughn and Lisa Hartley.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, James "Jimmy" Paul Jones, William "Billy" Hixton Jones, Clyde "Tommy" Thomas Jones, and John "Bobby" Robert Jones, and three sisters, Mary Catherine Jones, Elizabeth Carolyn Hill, and Mabel Jean Sosbe.

She had a good home with Gary and Carol Cantrell, Michael Cantrell, Braydon Cantrell, and Danielle Lands, whom she loved like they were her own grandchildren. They all called her Mamaw. She also loved her dog, Maggie Mae, very much. A special thank you to Virginia Bray, a friend who helped care for Mrs. Anna. 

Anna loved children and babysat 38 of them. She loved cooking and canning food from her garden and made beautiful flower arrangements. Anna worked for Mrs. Elizabeth Korens nursing home in Flemingsburg for 2 years, Sorrell's Restaurant for 3 years, and also Fleming County Packing for 15 years. She loved reading her Bible and helping friends and neighbors. She also ran Mrs. Anna's Memorial Day Flowers. 

Pallbearers will be Mark Lowe, Todd Jones, Brayden Cantrell, Michael Cantrell, Danielle Lands, Gary Cantrell, Norman Smoot and James Smoot.

Honorary pallbearers will be Derrick Jones, Chase Jones, Zachery Lowe, Parker Lowe and Shelby Lowe.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Friday November 17, 2023 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Flemingsburg with Brother Joe Riley officiating.

She will be laid to rest next to her husband, Kelly in Elizaville Cemetery.

Visitation is after 11:00 A.M. and until the hour of service Friday at the funeral home.
