Allen Jones, Sr.

Allie 'Honey' Jones Sr., 92, of Flemingsburg, passed away Sunday, February 15, 2015 at the VA Hospital- Leestown Road in Lexington. Born November 26, 1922 in Flemingsburg, he was the son of the late Alvin and Nettie Young Jones.

A U.S. Army veteran, Allie served overseas during WWII and received two Purple Hearts. Allie was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church and the American Legion. He could often be seen driving around town, stopping to visit and talk with people. Allie loved telling stories to people. He also enjoyed collecting antiques.

Allie is survived by: a son, Allen (Susie) Jones Jr. of Flemingsburg; grandchildren, Rickey Allen Jones of Maysville, Malisa Darna Jones of Lexington, Linda Lee Riggs of Maysville, Michael Allen Potts of Louisville, and Brandon Lamar Hamm of Flemingsburg; 16 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; a special friend, Gloria Rice; and step-children, Wanda Saunders and Dorthea Baker. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by: a brother, Perry Thomas Jones; and two sisters, Anna Frances Jones and Janie Lou Coleman.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at the Carpenter-Fritz & Vice Funeral Home officiated by the Rev. Lenyai Croley. Visitation will be 11am to 1pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fleming County Cemetery with Military Rites performed by the W.N. Fant American Legion Post #5 and the Franklin Sousley VFW Post 1834.

Active pallbearers will be Sebastian Gaskins, Arthur Lofton, Curtis Jackson, Marcus Lofton, Stevie Lofton, and Josh Graham.
